The Lord Adds
The Lord Adds
Reading: Matthew 5:14-16; 1 Peter 2:9-12
Devotional: "The Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved." Luke doesn't credit apostles, programs, marketing, or spectacle—God brought the increase. The church didn't chase growth; it pursued faithfulness.
As they devoted themselves to becoming God's people, He entrusted them with more people. Healthy things grow. A Spirit-filled person becomes light in darkness—you don't shout for attention when living in the light; it naturally stands out. Jerusalem watched people who traded a moment for a movement, isolation for family, temporary satisfaction for eternal joy. They discovered Jesus was better than everything left behind.
The adding was evidence the pattern was alive. Your responsibility isn't manufacturing moments but living faithfully in devotion, awe, togetherness, and gladness. When you do, the Architect keeps building.
Be impossible to ignore—not through noise, but through authentic, Spirit-formed life.
Reflection Question: Are you pursuing faithfulness or chasing growth? What's the difference in your daily life?
Closing Prayer: Lord, form us into a people marked by devotion, holy awe, radical togetherness, and contagious gladness. Let our lives be impossible to ignore as we carry Your presence day by day. Build Your church through us as we hold fast to Your truth. Amen.
