The Response That Saves

The Response That Saves

Reading: Acts 2:38-39

Devotional: Peter's answer was direct: "Repent and be baptized." No negotiation, no halfway measures, no room for keeping one foot in your old life. Repentance isn't behavior modification—it's a complete change of allegiance. It's turning from your way to His way, from your control to His authority, from your throne to His lordship.

This promise isn't exclusive or limited. It's "for you and your children and for all who are far away." Whether you're near or far, clean or messy, qualified or disqualified—the invitation stands. But invitation requires response. You can't add Jesus to your life; you must surrender your life to Jesus.

Baptism is your public declaration that you're done hiding, done managing your own life, done pretending you're in control. Your sins aren't just covered—they're removed, gone, as far as the east is from the west.

Reflection: What areas of your life are you still trying to control? What would full surrender look like for you today?
